Summer of Yoga

Welcome to summer at the beach. It has been a long winter. The air is getting warmer, the beach is getting busier, the studio is a cool blue and we invite you to find peace, serenity and strength at YogaJoy! Our June schedule is available online @ yogajoy.ca. We have added the following to the summer schedule:

Summer Solstice Class

In 2015 International Yoga Day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested this date as it is the longest day of the year which we call the Summer Solstice. Mr. Modi said in his address "Yoga is an invaluable gift of the India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature." At YogaJoy we will celebrate this day by offering a special Summer Solstice Class. This is a donation class with proceeds going to The Community Animal Allies of Niagara. caancatmobile.org/index.php?action=catmobile#. WHEN?

Wednesday morning June 21

6:45 to 8:00 a.m.

Rise N'Shine with Kerry Mitchell

Mark the first moments of summer with an early morning practice to awaken the inner light of the sun. With the earth's rotation as inspiration, we will explore the energetic and transforming qualities of twists and plant the seeds for a soulful salute to the sun. Led by Deva Premal's chanting of the gayatri mantra, we will close the practice by turning toward the infinite light within. This is an all-levels class, although some experience with yoga is anticipated. No previous experience with the gayatri mantra is needed.

Sunrise Yoga

Due to the current construction at Bay Beach we have relocated our "Yoga at the Beach" to the Waterfront Park in Crystal Beach. Bring a blanket and a donation to our new class time of 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. every Wednesday and Saturday. Starts June 30th and runs until Labor Day weekend.

This is all for now. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who cross the threshold of our little studio. We work hard to keep our classes real, our teachings authentic and always with the intention to help create and maintain a consciousness that rises above and beyond the material world. If you have not yet tried yoga, please try. It may just be the medicine you need to live a happy and healthful life.

Om Shanti,

Joyce
