Joyce Senese, CYT 500

Owner and instructor at YogaJoy, Joyce has been practicing yoga for most of her adult life and is a hatha yoga instructor. She received her teaching certification through the Himalayan Institute in Buffalo, New York under the guidance of Rolf Sovik, director of the Buffalo Campus. She is a member of the Himalayan Teacher’s Association. Her interest in yoga and love of travel brought her to India in 2006 to continue her studies to obtain her 500-hour certification. Joyce is a certified reflexologist and a member of the Ontario College of Reflexology, having received her training through Shanti Parakh in Niagara Falls.  Through the Himalayan Institute Buffalo campus, Joyce has recently been certified as an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.   She is currently practicing and studying with Malissa Larson at Ashtanga Yoga Buffalo. Her personal practice continues to evolve. Her inspiration comes from the ancient teachings, from the writings and formal instruction of her teachers, from the wisdom of her students, from music, poetry, nature and the enduring joys and trials of life with her human and animal friends.

Barbara Fotherby, CYT 200

Barbara has been practicing yoga since the late 90′s.She obtained her East to West Yoga Teacher 350 hour Certification in 2006 and is a registered Yoga Alliance teacher at the 200 hour level. Barbara continues to deepen her study of yoga by attending courses leading to the 500 hour level. Currently she is studying Sanskrit at the Himalayan Institute with Nicolai Bachman as a guest teacher.

Barbara is currently studying with Malissa Larson at Ashtanga Yoga Buffalo.

Kathy has been a certified group fitness instructor for over 25 years teaching various types of classes during this time. She continues to update her certifications by attending fitness conferences, workshops and lectures . She is a certified level II Trainer with the Ontario Womens’s Hockey Association and currently is the trainer for her daughter’s hockey team the Brock Jr Badger’s. She became a certified PiYo Strength instructor through Beachbody, and is excited to be teaching this class at Yoga Joy for all levels of fitness. PiYo is a hybrid, athletic workout that combines the practices of yoga and pilates, as well as the principles of sports stretch, strength training, conditioning and dynamic movement. 

Ashley Masi, RYT 200

Ashley has been practicing yoga since 2005. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2015 through Yoga By Sarah and is a registered Yoga Alliance teacher at the 200 hour level. Since becoming a RYT, Ashley continues to further her study of yoga through practice and readings and has completed her Restorative yoga with minimal props teacher training certification. Currently, Ashley is working on completing her schooling to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist which she hopes to combine with her yoga practice in the near future.
